Hey there! I’m Andrew Holtz, a wedding photographer based in New York City, serving the tri-state area and beyond. It’s hard to believe I’ve been photographing weddings for over 15 years. It is truly a gift to look back on the hundreds of couples I’ve photographed during that time and the friendships made along with the all the stories I’ve been a part of.

A little about me:

I met my wife, Lydia, when she was a professional ballet dancer in Montreal. We immediately connected with our shared love for art and creating so naturally I began my photographic journey capturing dance and movement. Happy to say we are about to share our 13th wedding anniversary this year and we have wonderfully curious kids, Everly and Pierson. Being a husband and a dad completely shapes how I see weddings. Family means everything to me, and I’m always thinking about the long-term when I’m photographing a wedding — not just how something looks today, but what it’s going to mean 20, 30, or 50 years from now. The photos that matter most aren’t always the big moments, but the small, quiet ones that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Before photography, my path was a little unconventional. I actually have a degree in public accounting and spent a short time in the corporate world before I followed my first real creative passion, which was music. I was a singer-songwriter for many years, made records, toured around the country, and later worked as an host/emcee on television and on the stage — even filming a pilot for a new TV show and appearing on several programs (including Dance Moms). All of that time performing and being around people taught me how to read a room, anticipate moments, and stay calm in high-pressure environments — skills that translate directly into photographing weddings.

The first time I picked up a camera, something just clicked. I threw myself completely into learning photography and was shooting full-time within my first year. Now, after thousands of shoots and millions of photos, that same curiosity and need to create is still very much there.

I shoot a mix of film and digital, and I’m always chasing images that feel classic, timeless, and emotionally honest. My approach is very story-driven. I’m not there to direct your wedding or manufacture moments — I truly believe the story is already perfect as it is. My job is simply to document it in a beautiful, thoughtful way.

At this point in my career, I’m not trying to build a portfolio or create content for Instagram. I am fully in service of the couple. I care deeply about the experience you have on your wedding day, and about creating photographs that feel real, personal, and meaningful for the rest of your lives.

In 2021, Lydia and I bought a 120-year-old former photography studio and spent years renovating it into our family home and my working studio. That project unlocked another creative side of me — carpentry and woodworking. So when I’m not holding a camera, I’m usually holding a saw or a hammer. I’ve realized I need to create something every day to feel fulfilled, and I’m incredibly grateful that photography (and everything around it) allows me to do exactly that.

Above all, I show up to every wedding calm, grounded, and fully present. My goal is for you to feel relaxed and taken care of — because when people feel comfortable, the most honest and beautiful moments naturally unfold.

Testimonials

“"Andrew's pictures speak for themselves! He somehow managed to capture the magical feeling of the day in a way I never thought possible but it's not only the pictures that we are raving about. Andrew was such a calm and professional presence on a day full of jitters and last minute details. He truly made us feel like he was in control and we were just there to have fun, look our best and enjoy the day."”

—Krista & Colin

“"We had multiple planning calls before the wedding, a wonderful engagement shoot, and he showed up to the wedding not only ready to take pictures but also to have fun. He and Adam (our second shooter) took the time to get to know our families and bridal parties, made everyone laugh, and brought out our best without forcing anything. He genuinely cares about every aspect of the wedding and (bafflingly) manages to remember everyone’s names."”

“"Our decision to work with Andrew as our photographer was the best one my husband and I made during our wedding planning process! I first fell in love with his photography style, airy and romantic, full of life and color. I knew I didn’t want a cookie cutter wedding photographer, I wanted to work with Andrew to capture our special day. I’m so happy we did, as I have the most stunning wedding photos that I will cherish forever. I smile looking at each photo, amazed at how much emotion he was able to capture"”
